By Ronnie Stich
Remember the old classic Vampire movies? The timeless images of theater monsters, and the diminished chord playing music that plays over and over to create that anticipation and scary feeling? Well this book brings it all together in a masterfully written way.
It includes spaceships roaming above the earth, vampires, ghosts, and it definitely has all the elements of a vintage Hollywood sci-fi novel you’ve read or heard about. The book Creepy Vampire Drive-in written by Ronnie Stich is sure to become a favorite among young readers that are looking for a delightfully-scary adventure. Is this an oxymoron? Yes it is, but there is no other way to describe it. Mrs. Stitch masterfully maneuvers fantasy, sci-fi, and ghoulish characters seamlessly and has created a fast-paced book that is perfect for young readers looking to escape into a world of fantasy and mystery.
The book is centered around two best friends Alicia and Kathy. It just so happens that both girls are part of a school club aimed at solving paranormal mysteries. Kathy’s aunt, named Marilyn, is a ghost and can travel from earth to the cosmos in a blink of an eye. Kathy gets word that the earth is threatened by a race of vampires through Marilyn and something must be done to save planet Earth before it’s too late!
Upon their plight to save earth, the two young ladies meet a half-human half-vampire named Kevan and this spins the story in a whole new direction. I won’t go into more detail here as I wouldn’t want to spoil the story, but I can tell you that it’s really interesting and if the young reader likes vampire-type novels, then this one is for them. The book is an easy read and this is more enticing to a younger audience. The author does an excellent job of quickly bringing the reader into the bizarre world of creatures and such. The book is cleverly written and rather amusing.
Mrs. Stitch did a wonderful job in making each character relate to the reader in spite of the fact that she has created a very strange world and characters. Those who read the story are sure to find one character they can relate too. Not only is the story fun to read and includes a lot of adventure, but it will keep the reader thinking about the story long after they have finished the book; the art of communication, friendship, and self discovery will all come into play for the reader.
All in all, the book was a fun read. If I had to sum this book up, I would say it’s Men in Black meets the Ghoosebumps series books. Just a fun read overall.
