By Dr. Cleo Molina
 Publisher: Self Published
Illustrated by Carolyn Flores

The author does a great job of telling a story about a little girl who is curious to learn about her mother’s age and birth. The story is told using poetry, rhyme, as well as the use of Mexican American history.

Overview:

the-only-livig-cavewoman-you-will-ever-meetThe illustrations are comprised with lots of color and just the right amount of detail to enhance the story. It is a 32-page book with illustrations that capture the essence of the message. The story’s poetry is simple, yet the singsong words give it an extra flair – a definite delight for younger audiences.

Various Audiences:

This book is a great book for any audience as it provides some great history into a different culture without overdoing it for a younger audience. It has just enough history that it makes it interesting and will possibly stir up questions on culture. At a time when society is becoming so diversified, this would be a great book to use in a classroom setting. This is a great opportunity to use in teaching non-Latino students about the Mexican culture as well as providing insight for the Latino pupil.

For Parents and Children:

It is a great bedtime story and one which children will definitely enjoy. The singsong words add to the overall book. It tells a story of a curious child and her mother and is rather heartwarming.
