Russell Rodriguez

Russell Rodríguez received his Ph.D. in anthropology at UC, Santa Cruz in 2006. He has worked closely with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, and is co-producer of the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings CD compilation “Rolas de Aztlán: Songs of the Chicano Movement.” He received the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellow for two years (2007-2009) at the University of Califonia at Santa Barbara (2007-09).  He is currently completing his book on the transnational practice of mariachi music.
