Sarah Rafael García started writing creative nonfiction after her father’s passing in 1988. Since the publication of Las Niñas, A Collection of Childhood Memories in 2008, she has continued to share her dream by founding Barrio Writers in 2009, a reading and writing program aimed to empower teenagers through creative writing, higher education and cultural arts. Most recently, Sarah Rafael spent three months backpacking Australia while working on her second book.
