Manuel Ruben Delgado was born and raised in San Bernardino, CA, in the Mexican barrio known as Mt. Vernon. After dropping out of high school at the age of 16, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and, in 1977, a Law Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters Degree in Education from San Diego State University. He is the author of The Last Chicano, a memoir.
