Doreen Carvajal, a reporter with the New York Times and International Herald Tribune in Paris, is the author of “The Forgetting River.” It is her first book, a memoir of her journey to recover the secret Sephardic Jewish identity of the Catholic Carvajals in a white pueblo in southern Spain.
