Victor Cass was born in Kingsville, Texas, in 1968, but was raised in his hometown of Pasadena, California. He is the author of three books, one non-fiction and two novels: Pasadena Police Department: A Photohistory, 1877-2000, published in 1999; Love, Death, and Other War Stories (2005); and Telenovela (2009). In addition, his essays and opinion pieces have also appeared in the Pasadena Weekly, Pasadena Star-News, Arroyo Monthly Magazine, and Mexican War Journal.
Cass also writes the blog, Sons and Daughters of Liberty, which features articles on American cultural, social, and political issues, as well as freedom and democratic movements from around the world. Cass received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, awarded with honors, from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena (1989) and his Master of Arts Degree in Military Studies-Land Warfare, from American Military University in Manassas Park, Virginia (1999).
Cass’ family-inspired love and desire to give back to the community also led him to join the Pasadena Police Department, where he has served proudly for 19 years. A decorated police officer, Cass has served three tours in Patrol, and one tour each in Detectives, Community Services, and the Villa Parke Community Policing Project. Cass was recently assigned to the Homeless Outreach-Psychiatric Evaluation (HOPE) Team, and has been Chairman of the Pasadena Mental Health Advisory Committee for several years. Cass also serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Pasadena Latino Employees Association.
Cass completed his third novel late last year, which will be published in the near future; and is nearing completion of his fourth novel. He has a daughter, Elizabeth Jeanette Cass.
