By Lupe Ruiz-Flores
Publisher: Piñata Books
Illustrations: Laura Lacámara

The author does a great job of taking a simple task of making fruit drinks and incorporating some good messages throughout the book. It is about a little girl who wants to make fruit drinks for her soccer team friends and how she goes about doing this. Overview:

Alicias-Fruity-DrinksThis book is a delightfully illustrated picture book that is written in English and Spanish. It is a 32-page book with sleek, high-color. The pages are jam-packed with wonderful illustrations that capture the story fully. The words are carefully crafted for just the right amount of detail per page and to keep the story interesting for its younger audience. The author has done a great job of crafting the story with each word adding to the story and giving it meaning.

For Teachers and Librarians:

This book has many possibilities – one would be the classroom. It provides characters that are of Latino origin; whereas, many mainstream childrens’ books don’t have these. This would be a great opportunity for Latino students to see “like-kind” characters that they can identify with, and also to allow non-Latino students to learn about another culture.

For Parents and Children:

You will enjoy this book. It is a great book to read on any day and is great for a bedtime story for your children. The pictures and words are engaging and would be appreciated in any arena as it has a wonderful message and just an overall great appeal.
