Patricia Santana’s first novel, Motorcycle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility (2002), is the winner of the Chicano/Latino Literary Contest and was selected as a Best Books for Young Adults 2003 by the American Library Association. San Diego Magazine named it their Book Award Winner for Fiction 2003. Motorcycle was also selected for the 2005 California Readers Collection. Her second novel, Ghosts of El Grullo, (2008) won the Premio Aztlán Award, the San Diego Book Award for General Fiction, and the American Book Award for 2008.
