Carolina Rivera is an educator, writer, performer, and filmmaker. Born in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, she fled the country’s civil war to Canada where she accepted political asylum. In 1989 she moved to southern California where she completed her studies at UCLA. She has been published variously online and in anthologies. In 2002, she worked on the completion of her first book of short stories as a Fellow in the Pen Center USA Emerging Voices Program. She recently finished a documentary, entitled Manlio Argueta: Poets and Volcanoes, which she plans to submit for viewing in film festivals. Her first novel, tentatively titled …after… is as yet unsubmitted for publication.
