Amada Irma Perez

Amada Irma Pérez is an award-winning author, speaker and a leading advocate of multicultural understanding.  Her books: My Very Own Room/Mi propio cuartito (Children’s Book Press 2000), My Diary from Here to There/Mi diario de aquí hasta allá (2002), Nana’s Big Surprise/Nana ¡Que sorpresa! (2007) have been honored by awards in children’s literature, including the American Library Association’s Pura Belpré Children’s Book Honor Award, the Tomás Rivera Mexican-American Children’s Book Award, the Américas Honor Book Award, the Parents’ Guide to Media Award, and the International Latino Book Award. Presently she teaches in the teacher preparation department at the University of Santa Barbara and is working on a novel.
